Rebecca grew up in northern Indiana as the oldest daughter of Taiwanese immigrants. As a child, she quietly studied her peers, learning their mannerisms to figure out how to fit in.

These days, Rebecca prefers to stand out and uses her observation skills to write creative nonfiction. She writes about the gulf between her experiences in Taiwan compared to how Taiwan is portrayed in the media, how Taiwanese people in their 20s and 30s decided who to vote for in the 2024 presidential election, chronic illness, and grief. She also shared stories of Asian American creatives and entrepreneurs at the height of Asian hate crimes during COVID.

Rebecca studied business and Asian Studies at Northwestern University and the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton & Lauder). She previously studied in Beijing and Singapore and worked in media in Taipei. She’s currently working on her debut personal essay collection.
